  1. Default widget behavior should not be "run accessed commands"

When Databricks widgets are created, the default behavior is to "run accessed commands" when the values are changed. Even clicking in the box and clicking out without changing the value will trigger this behavior.

I believe the default behavior should be to do nothing, as automatically running when you are not familiar with this behavior can lead to unintended and catastrophic accidental runs.

  3. Collapsible Headings in html export

It would be great if the html export of a notebook with collapsible headings would also have collapsible headings.

  5. TensorFlow 1.14.0 / 2.0.0a broken

I really need TensorFlow 1.14.0 for a lot of bug fixes, but can't seem to install it using an init_script as described in https://docs.azuredatabricks.net/applications/deep-learning/single-node-training/tensorflow.html

The problem seems to lie in the dependency wrapt (I logged and found it to be a problem):
"Cannot uninstall 'wrapt'. It is a distutils installed project and thus we cannot accurately determine which files belong to it which would lead to only a partial uninstall."

This breaks 1.14.0 and 2.0.0a since both depend on wrapt>=1.11.1

I tried to first install wrapt with --ignore installed, and although it looks like it works I end up with…

  6. Notebook linked to repo - when moving or trashing, repo should be updated

Linking a notebook to a repository is easy, but if you delete or move a notebook, the linked repository isn't updated with the changes. I would expect that the repository would be kept up to date. This is confusing and requires manual management.

  7. azure active directory

I would like to grant users access based on Azure AD security groups. Instead of managing users individually and directly in databricks.

  9. Git integration should be on folder/repo level, not just single notebooks

The current git integration only integrates single notebooks. But with notebook flows and other features, we have a whole folder structure of notebooks with interdependencies. So instead of integrating a single notebook with a file in git, you should be able to connect a Databricks folder to a git repo and branch, pursing/pulling the whole thing in one (just like a normal git repo).

I know this can be accomplished using the workspace api and CLI, but it would be great to be able to do this without involving the desktop at all.

  10. Increase resizing handle on sidebar vertically and add auto expand to show full names

The handle with html class "ui-resizable-handle ui-resizable-e" is too small and hard to notice, so expanding the sidebar is very difficult and if you miss to the right, you close the sidebar unless you pin it, which is annoying. This makes navigating very difficult. You could expand that vertically to make it easier, as that's probably expected user behavior given that all windows on a desktop can be expanded from any point on the side. You could also add a feature to auto expand to the maximum character length of your longest table, database or file name.

  11. Add Azure Files Storage to supported mount list

dbutils.fs.mount should be able to mount to Azure Files Storage
This is the service Azure offers for one to store his code\files\outputs, this should be accessible from Databricks

  12. Make the green dot next to the active clusters more colorblind friendly

I have moderate red green colorblindness and sometimes its hard for me to tell if a cluster is active or not in the interface. If you could change the color of the active dot to a brighter more colorblind friendly green like #00FF48, or even add a little check inside the circle, it would be much appreciated.

  15. Change UI behaviour for tables list so that last table is also visible when scrolling down the list.

Currently when we have a long list of tables in one database where we need to scroll down to see the last one in the list, this last table is not viewable in the list. Please change the page UI rendering so that also the last table is visible in the UI.

  16. The workspace is displayed at the top of the interface.

The workspace could be displayed at the top of the interface. For example - "Microsoft Azure - XYZ Workspace". It is annoying to determine the workspace by clicking on the "person" icon on the right and looking at the drop down to determine the workspace.

  17. Ipad could properly render table headers from commands

Notebooks run in iPad or even iPad Pros don’t render the headers. Seems like the table is created as two different layers, and the titles are in the layer that is behind the table contents, making the titles invisible when tables have more than 3/4 columns to display

  18. Load libraries before initialising spark session in notebook.

As of now, we load libraries that are defined at the cluster startup after spark sessions is kicked off. Unless we add a library into drivers classpath through init script library will not be loaded before session initialization.
This will affect the use cases where users want to add libraries for using them in spark extensions like spark.sql.extensions.

  19. Stop automatic scroll to bottom In logger panels

You can stop automatic scroll to bottom In logger panels. It would help us looking into the logs. Right now as soon as we reach the relevant logs, it pulls us back to the bottom. This is very irritating.

  20. Folders don't map to GIT correctly

Created a folder in the workspace, when linked, the folder is a part of the notebook folder notebook\dev is the folder in GIT. This causes trouble when using the release pipeline
