  1. azure active directory

I would like to grant users access based on Azure AD security groups. Instead of managing users individually and directly in databricks.

    • Add option to upgrade workspace to premium from standard

There is currently no way to upgrade a workspace from the standard tier to the premium tier. Rather than having to export all notebooks, create a new workspace, port everything over, re-mount storage endpoints, re-add all users, and import the notebooks, it would be preferable to be able to click a button.

      • Allow management of Groups through the UI

Allow management of Groups through the UI rather than just through the Groups API.

Only being able to Add/Remove/List Users in a Group through the Groups API is inconvenient and restrictive.

The current state of Permissions management for administrators of Databricks is not a great experience.

When a new User is granted access, the Administrators need to go and manually grant the User Permission to all of the Libraries/Folders/Jobs/Clusters etc.

This manual process has resulted in Users being granted Permissions that they shouldn't have or not being granted Permissions that they should have.

We want to use Groups to help…

          • Display Function in Notebooks could be used to generate multiple plots

I would like to be able to generate a set of visuals from a single display function call or SQL query output without having to rerun the same chunk multiple times.

            • jobs could be cloned in the Job UI

Sometimes I'd like to spin up a new job with all the same cluster settings, etc, as an existing job, but pointing at a different notebook. A "clone" feature would be super useful!

              • Full-screen file browser

The side drawer is better than nothing. But actual persistent pages for navigating the filesystem (like in Jupyter Notebook) would be much more helpful.

                • Don't require same column order when importing into DWH using sqldwh connector

At the moment the sqldwh connector expects the columns in the dataframe to be in the same order as in the dwh table. But this is not always the case. E.g.: in the DWH table we have a surrogate ID as the first column in all Dimension tables. But this is autogenerated, so it is not inside of the dataframes. For the sqldwh connector to work we had to use the workaround to put the surrogate ID as the last column in DWH table.

                  • Tabular data editor within a notebook

I need to manipulate ~50 input fields (currently in a tabular format) such that I can quickly manipulate > run notebook > see result > manipulate data again. I either have to use terribly laid out widget inputs and gets, or re-upload an entire spreadsheet every time I want to see what a tweak in the data set would result in.

                    • Databricks could integrate better with a Python IDE

Similar to the RStudio Server integration which has become availble recently, it would be great to have an integration with at least one Python IDE (PyCharm, Spyder, etc.). Is such an integration planned for the near future? The development of code in notebooks can be rather cumbersome for larger projects.

                        • Workspace API should sync cell headers

When syncing the workspace to Python files using the databricks cli, the cell headers are not included. We're using this feature for Git integration, and since the headers are not included in the sync, they can't be used.

                          • if the 'cancel' button wasn't so close to 'Spark jobs' arrow

The cancel button is really close to the "Spark jobs" text and arrow. It is not difficult to imagine a situation during long jobs when you accidentally cancel a job while just trying to see more details

                              • Groups can be owners of jobs. It is ridiculous to have only one person being able to be Owner of a job

We are a team of 7 people and only 1 person can update jobs.

{"error_code":"PERMISSION_DENIED","message":"User ABC does not have Owner or Admin permissions on job 37116"

We can also not add a group as an owner. This is ridiculous and cannot even be considered an idea/feature as it is expected behaviour since Windows for workgroups 3.11.

                                • Job was queued if max concurrent reached.

I would run my jobs by api, with some parameter.
However there is a limit of concurrent jobs which is fine, but when hitting it, jobs should not be skipped, but instead queued for execution when jobs running number allow it again.

Thanks for enabling copy/cut -paste of individual cells, but we really also need to be able to select multiple cells and do the same. It would be great just to get the simple SHIFT-arrow up/down selection behavior of Jupyter.

                                      • Plot multiple charts from a single cell

It would be great if I could plot multiple charts from a single cell. It would be useful for looping through a collection and displaying one plot for each iteration.

                                        • Edit existing notebook's language

Change an existing notebook from Scala to SQL, for example. Currently there is a very roundbout way of doing it by exporting .dbc, unzipping it like a zip file, directly editing the resulting json, zipping it back up, and import it
