  1. Plot options does not support ambiguous column names

Given I am in Plot Options
When a dataframe has two columns with the same name
Then I can use an alias to differentiate the columns

My situation is that I left joined two tables. Nulls from non-joined rows is taking precedence when columns names are the same. I am unable to specify an alias for the tables in the Plot Options screen.

  2. Plot multiple charts from a single cell

It would be great if I could plot multiple charts from a single cell. It would be useful for looping through a collection and displaying one plot for each iteration.

  3. one cell can graph multiple graphs

We're trying to automate a dashboard that we have currently but the fact that only one graph can be generated from a cell makes it so human touch is still required.

  4. Option to fix the y axis to start at 0 for graphs

If I'm making a graph from the results of a cell, the axes are dynamically scaled. Sometimes, this can make small changes seem like much bigger ones. It would be great if we had an option to fix the y min at 0 to get a better sense of the scale of changes.

  5. Sizes could be specified in code for ggplot plots in R

It would be great if we could specify the size of the canvas that ggplot is painting on to, so that it can automatically size fonts etc correctly and get the aspect ratio right.

  6. in-notebook charts did not default null values to 0 - it makes many charts in the notebook useless because the data looks incorrect.

In a dataframe, if a value doesn't exist for one series in a chart, the in-notebook visualizations fill in the values with 0. This makes the charts appear to go down in value at the tail ends, resulting in charts that are not useful/look incorrect. I would like the notebooks to not infer this 0 value and instead just truncate the lines when there is no data.

  7. Plots generated by display() did not render null values the same as 0

True of line plots, possibly others.

    Use case 1:
There are two Datasets which are left joined together where the right-hand table contains values close to 0. By omitting nulls the visualization could distinguish between points where there is no value and when there is a value but close to zero.

    Use case 2:
There are two time series where the measurement periods do not align, for example one is measured on the hour and the other is measured every 30 minutes. If plotted together at the 30 minute frequency, the hourly data would render with every other point going…

  8. It were possible to visualize lat long points as pins on a map

It would be great to be able to visualize lat long points as pins on a map.

A nice to have would be to allow zooming on a particular point.

  9. Live logging in log4j pane

Add a way to live tail a log from the Spark Driver Logs page. Having to refresh constantly is very hard to deal with especially with the small line cache. Using another service like loggly to do live logging is not a good solution.

If this is too difficult adding an auto refresh option on the page with a variable time.

  10. Line charts could support series of different lengths

Right now, if a particular series does not have a value for a given x-value that that exists for the other series, a point with y-value of 0 is plotted instead. Line charts should support different number of points within each series.

  11. displayHTML could render lightning-viz visuals inline, like they can be in IPython

jupyter notebooks display lightning viz inline:

from IPython.display import display, IFrame, HTML
    display(IFrame(viz.get_permalink(), width=1280, height=1280))

  12. Allow finer grained control over map visualization

Allow for control over colors, legend, scale, "bucket" ranges, etc.
