Databricks could use Jupyter as a front end
I notice that Databricks have been trying to catch up to Jupyter in terms of functionality lately. IMHO Jupyter has several things such as more flexible visualization, ability to create dashboards, etc, that are currently not available in Databricks. As a popular OSS solution, it is also better known for newcomers to Databricks. Instead of duplicating effort to build similar functionality, wouldn't it be better if Databricks and Jupyter could collaborate on building a better notebook environment for everyone?
I agree with Sujit's comment in the original post that it would be great if Databricks and Jupyter could collaborate on a better notebook environment. Or if there was an option to select which notebook type (Jupyter, Zeppelin) when creating a new notebook.

I have to say I much prefer Jupyter lab interface. Is there any possibility of using this in addition to the databricks notebooks

This is really a great idea. It would be nice if it were at least an option to run Jupyter instead of the standard databricks notebook. Jupyter is becoming increasingly sophisticated and is very customizable.
