  1. Collapsible Headings in html export

    It would be great if the html export of a notebook with collapsible headings would also have collapsible headings.

  3. Default widget behavior should not be "run accessed commands"

    When Databricks widgets are created, the default behavior is to "run accessed commands" when the values are changed. Even clicking in the box and clicking out without changing the value will trigger this behavior.

    I believe the default behavior should be to do nothing, as automatically running when you are not familiar with this behavior can lead to unintended and catastrophic accidental runs.

  4. Git integration should be on folder/repo level, not just single notebooks

    The current git integration only integrates single notebooks. But with notebook flows and other features, we have a whole folder structure of notebooks with interdependencies. So instead of integrating a single notebook with a file in git, you should be able to connect a Databricks folder to a git repo and branch, pursing/pulling the whole thing in one (just like a normal git repo).

    I know this can be accomplished using the workspace api and CLI, but it would be great to be able to do this without involving the desktop at all.

  5. remove notebook from recents

    when I have notebooks with similar names and content, but in different workspaces, it would be useful to be able to remove from recents, when I have done with one of them, so I don't work in the wrong space.

  6. It would be great if cells showed the amount of time they have been running (not just when finished)

    When you run a cell, it shows you the amount of time it took, *when the cell finished*.

    It would be great if it showed you the time it has taken so far, *while* executing.

  7. Make the green dot next to the active clusters more colorblind friendly

    I have moderate red green colorblindness and sometimes its hard for me to tell if a cluster is active or not in the interface. If you could change the color of the active dot to a brighter more colorblind friendly green like #00FF48, or even add a little check inside the circle, it would be much appreciated.

  8. "Single Node TensorFlow to Distributed DL" example worked

    I can't finish https://docs.databricks.com/applications/deep-learning/distributed-training/mnist-tensorflow.html. My cluster is vanilla 5.3 ML image, standard nc12 gpu. On "prepare single node code", I get from "train(learning_rate=.01, batch_size=64)" an "UnknownError: /dbfs/horovod_tf_keras//MNISTDemo/train/1556245977.6539524/checkpoint.tmpa6724f77bca94128bd6ee8f49cbbd5ba; Input/output error". And under "Migrate to HorovodRunner" I get from "hr.run(train_hvd, learning_rate=0.01, batch_size=64)" the error "org.apache.spark.SparkException: Job aborted due to stage failure: Could not recover from a failed barrier ResultStage. Most recent failure reason: Stage failed because barrier task ResultTask(1, 0) finished unsuccessfully.". I realize I probably do something silly. Advice is appreciated. :-)

  9. Timer for currently running cell

    It would be really handy to have a running timer for currently processing jobs. It would help users identify cells which have been over running due to some user error, for example running a job with exponential complexity that would take hours whereas the usual process only takes a few seconds.

  12. Display Function in Notebooks could be used to generate multiple plots

    I would like to be able to generate a set of visuals from a single display function call or SQL query output without having to rerun the same chunk multiple times.

  13. uploading notebook blocked scheduler

    Our team uses the CLI to upload notebooks to our data-bricks system and we have the scheduler schedule these notebooks as jobs. It happened the other day that the notebook was partially uploaded when it was scheduled to run. Whats more is it uploads command by command starting with the last. So in my case only the final command was in the notebook at the time.

    This could eventually cause some extremely strange and uncontrollable errors and devs shouldn't have to think about how a notebook could run forward and potentially every subset of that in case this happens. (This…

  14. Bug in graph order when displaying in chart

    creating a bar chart based on a temp view or saved table that is sorted by the column it is summarized on (y axis) creates an error when trying to aggregate over all results.

  15. Markdown as Base Notebook Format

    If a notebook's syntax could default to Markdown, this would make git integration more seemless for e.g. a README.md, and would also make it easier for similarly documentation-focused notebooks.

  16. Notebooks required git merge prior to push

    Currently, we have multiple people collaborating on notebooks through github, with each person having checked out a version in their own directory. However, if Person 1 commits code, Person 2 often doesn't notice that this code has been commited. If Person 2 commits code without first pulling, it will effectively undo the changes done by Person 1 and produce no warning at all. This seems to entirely defeat the purpose of source control. Unless I'm mistaken, Databricks doesn't seem to have a "pull and merge" functionality at all. So Person 2 needs to notice the commit, and manually merge the…

  17. Change favicon of page when a cell is running in Notebook

    Jupyter notebook does this.

    When we are running a cell, and it's in execution it changes favicon to a "spinner".

    This way we can go back to the tab, when we know that the job is done.

  18. libraries load correctly on cluster restart

    When a notebook is attached to a cluster with some user-installed libraries, the notebook does not find the the libraries when the cluster is restarted, or when the cluster was auto-terminated and is started again since last execution. When executing, the notebook reports that the library is not found until I detach the notebook and then attach to the same cluster again.

  19. Adding an implicit method "display" to Datasets

    This is a little thing, but if you could include something equivalent to the code snippet I've attached in the notebook scopes

    import org.apache.spark.sql.Dataset
    implicit def aux[T](df: Dataset[T])(implicit _display: Dataset[T] => Unit) = new {
    def display = _display(df)
    }
    implicit val auxHelp = display(_: Dataset[_])

    This allows the following code to work:

    spark.range(10).display

  20. editing notebooks didn't have so much lag. It is almost unusable.

    Editing notebooks is so slow sometimes, regardless of computer, internet connection, etc. Rebooting doesn't help, more RAM or CPU doesn't help, a different browser doesn't help. It's awful, with 10 or more seconds of lag just typing individual characters or clicking/highlighting different parts of the notebook. HELP!
