  1. Add Azure Files Storage to supported mount list

dbutils.fs.mount should be able to mount to Azure Files Storage
This is the service Azure offers for one to store his code\files\outputs, this should be accessible from Databricks

  3. Multiple Plots and Text Output per Cell

I want to thank the databricks team for including multiple matplotlib plots per cell as part of the 6.0 Runtime. However, for my workflow, this misses the mark on how I use this feature in Jupyter.

As part of exploratory analysis I will often loop through either columns or through subsets of the data and print out statistics, tables and/or other text along with plots of the data. This creates a lot of output per cell in Jupyter but allows me to scroll through the output quickly without having to reproduce the code over multiple cells. The end result is…

  5. Make the green dot next to the active clusters more colorblind friendly

I have moderate red green colorblindness and sometimes its hard for me to tell if a cluster is active or not in the interface. If you could change the color of the active dot to a brighter more colorblind friendly green like #00FF48, or even add a little check inside the circle, it would be much appreciated.

  6. Performance for large workbooks should be improved

Editing (i.e. typing in) any notebook on Chrome over about 400 lines of code is really slow to the point of being unusable. This happens across multiple notebooks and multiple machines.

  7. Integrate Data Science Version Control (DVC) into Databricks Platform

There is a special Version Control Framework for Data Science projects available which can be installed on top of GitHub etc. (https://dvc.org/). Would be great if we can leverage from this framework directly in Databricks.

  8. Unable to click links under 'Recent'

Nothing happens on clicking the notebooks under 'Recent'. To be honest, it is a frustrating user experience.

  9. Support the new us-west-2d availability zone

us-west-2d has consistently low spot pricing for some instance types. Please add support for it.

  12. Change UI behaviour for tables list so that last table is also visible when scrolling down the list.

Currently when we have a long list of tables in one database where we need to scroll down to see the last one in the list, this last table is not viewable in the list. Please change the page UI rendering so that also the last table is visible in the UI.

  13. Long Hang Running Command

Sometime my command line will hang in "Running command". The code is really simple like "print("hello world")", which made my experience really, really bad!!! Could you provide more support or information why this happened?

  14. Ipad could properly render table headers from commands

Notebooks run in iPad or even iPad Pros don’t render the headers. Seems like the table is created as two different layers, and the titles are in the layer that is behind the table contents, making the titles invisible when tables have more than 3/4 columns to display

  15. we can provide relationships between Spark SQL tables

Add the capability to provide informational relationships, constraints and hints that would help building a data model within Databricks itself. I understand this is a Spark feature which is pending since 2017 to provide Informational Referential integrity [SPARK-19842] but it hasn't moved on.If Databricks can provide a similar feature at least with Delta then there is no need of using an intermediary model-staging service like a RDBMS or OLAP or MPP when visualizing using tools like PowerBI or Tableau.

  16. Load libraries before initialising spark session in notebook.

As of now, we load libraries that are defined at the cluster startup after spark sessions is kicked off. Unless we add a library into drivers classpath through init script library will not be loaded before session initialization.
This will affect the use cases where users want to add libraries for using them in spark extensions like spark.sql.extensions.

  17. Stop automatic scroll to bottom In logger panels

You can stop automatic scroll to bottom In logger panels. It would help us looking into the logs. Right now as soon as we reach the relevant logs, it pulls us back to the bottom. This is very irritating.

  18. Folders don't map to GIT correctly

Created a folder in the workspace, when linked, the folder is a part of the notebook folder notebook\dev is the folder in GIT. This causes trouble when using the release pipeline

  19. dbutils.widgets would become available in Databricks Connect

I use dbutils.widgets to set variables in my Databricks notebooks. It would be nice if there would be an implementation of this sub-module in Databricks Connect so I can use an IDE for Databricks development.

  20. %run could be used in IDEs with Databricks Connect

For larger modules, I use quite some %run commands to import functions from other notebooks. It would be nice if these could be used in IDEs like PyCharm, so I can develop there and use PyCharm features such as linting and refactoring which Databricks notebooks do not have.
